Worship Confessional (of a sort)
Many of you probably have no idea, but earlier in my life, music was kind of a big deal. I played an instrument in band, I could read music really well and I was a classically trained vocalist. And when I first became a Christian as a teenager, God used my vocal skills (and my love for the spotlight) to lead students in worship in my church’s youth band.
Even though I had lost most of my skills out of lack of training over the years, a few years ago I joined the adult worship team. But when this hit the fan, I left the worship team because frankly, it was too difficult for me to separate my personal loss from the new thing God was doing.
After over 2 years, I have really begun to miss being on team and helping usher others into worship with the Father. Everyone so often I get the inkling to return to vocal team. There is little I love more than being a part of such a ministry. But it is definitely something that will take more prayer and really, a lot more time in my schedule to figure out.
But this week during my visit to Portland, Jenni asked me to help lead worship with her at Church! at Bethany. I was so immensely honored to have to have the opportunity. I was nervous (having been so long since I’d lead vocally) but I was so glad to do it and had so much fun.
The video below isn’t of the actual church service, but from LifeGroup on Monday night. We lead the same songs from Sunday. It is really rough, but I thought I’d share it with you. Mainly because I love Jenni. She’s rad.
