September 11 Remembered
Let’s all remember those who lost their lives and who fought to save the lives of others 6 years ago on September 11th, 2001. I can’t believe the years just keep flying on by. There are times when I think back to that day and the weeks after (I was a junior in High School) and it doesn’t seem real. I almost wish I were young enough at the time to not remember the affects of that day, but the images and feelings are burned inside me. I can’t imagine the thousands who truly experienced it. The folks who just went to work like any other day. White collar or blue. From the towers to the Pennsylvania ground… Heroes.
It’s something my kids (when I have them) will one day study in school. Like Pearl Harbor. JFK. Vietnam. They’ll ask me about it, be assigned history reports, and sit in class bored when their teachers explain it. It’s quite surreal to think I lived through something and experienced something on scale that will forever be remembered, not just by myself, but discussed and taught about for years and years to come.
So, let’s not forget that day. A day when we forgot our political affliation. A day when we united for a single cause. A day when we were proud to be Americans. A day when we would do anything to help one another. A day when our president had an 92% approval rating. A day when even Congress prayed and sang “God Bless America” together.
It’s amazing what can happen in a matter of a few years, huh?
Why wait for tragedy to unite and cling to God?
Too easily we forget.
There’s hope yet, I believe.
Pray for our leaders.
Pray for our troops.
Pray for our safety.
Thank God for His mercy because to be honest, I sometimes don’t understand why He shows it.
